glimpses

This one is for Nana and Granny. I had to share these pictures from the Spring show. Our little performer had been talking about it for weeks and weeks. It was as cute as a preschool show could get. At one point she and the little guy in the green got in a singing war because she thought he was singing too loud so she gave him a dirty look, covered her ears and started to sing even louder. I loved every minute of it. It was perfect Leah in every way.

"Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart." ~ Victor Hugo
I have been waiting all winter for a day that was nice enough to take Leah out in her snow princess costume so we could play.

"Childhood is measured out by the sounds, smells and sights before the dark hour of reason grows - John Betjeman"

For me the the light, love and laughter of my two little ones shines through in these images. Even the last one where Leah is sad because I am cold and we are leaving. These are moments I  want to remember for a lifetime. It was pretty much our first real snow of the year (crazy for Chicago area right). We had big plans to sled but when the kids got home it was raining, yuck!! We watched and waited until the rained stopped and when it did we loaded on our gear and headed out to go sledding. It may not be easy but they teach me every day to let go and just enjoy the ride.

Don't wake the bear...beware of the very scary little person sleeping in this little girls bed. If you are brave enough to wake her in the morning this is what you will find. She is not a morning person and when you wake her up she is very, very crabby. Just like her Mommy. Thats right, she gets her morning crabbiness from me. I can be pretty scary if you wake me up too.

glimpses

Every Tuesday and Thursday Leah and I are lucky enough to spend a few hours alone together while Jordan heads off to school. It is just us girls home and it is awesome.  Usually Leah's activity of choice is to watch a cartoon, or two, play on the ipad, or play with dolls in her room. She just loves that she can play without her brother for a few hours and she has some time alone. This past week she asked me if she could spend her girl time in her room alone. Of course I was ok with that but as it got closer to time to pick up Jordan I asked her if I could come in and take a few pictures and to my surprise she said yes. I guess the fact that I have not been taking my camera out so much lately has some benefits because these pictures are so Leah.

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher that the soul can hope or the mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that is keeping the stars apart

glimpses week 52

“Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.”
― Henry David Thoreau

The kids have been dreaming for weeks about the first snow and even though it barely covered the ground they were filled with excitement and had to rush outside as soon as their heads lifted off their pillows. They were worried that it might melt before they could even get all their gear on and get outside.  They ran, slid, threw and of course ate it!

This is my last glimpse of this year. Be sure to check out the glimpses | 52 project at the chic critique forum
